Mission Statement

The Mission of the RCIA/RCIC is to assist all interested persons in the Catholic Faith with a comprehensive faith formation/education in the dogma and tradition of the Catholic Church, to enhance their spiritual life, and to assist them in true conversion.

What is This Ministry About?

The Ministry of RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is a process through which non-baptized men and women enter the Catholic Church. It is also for those baptized in a different faith tradition who wish to become Catholic, or baptized Catholic, but never confirmed. Participants in the RCIA are known as catechumens (non-baptized) and candidates (baptized).

The Ministry of RCIC (Rite of Christian Initiation of Children) is the process for children who are not baptized or baptized in another tradition to be fully welcomed into the Catholic faith.

This ministry prepares both these groups for initiation into the Catholic Faith through weekly classes focusing on the basics of the Faith, prayer, Scripture, and spirituality. All RCIA Sessions are open to all interested parishioners.  These attendees are referred to as our RCIA Session “guests”.

Participants involved in our Catholic Community’s RCIA Process/Sessions attend weekly Sunday morning sessions, a once a month Wednesday evening Gathering, and the parish-wide “Main Event” held quarterly, on Sunday evening, during the year.  As the RCIA progresses during the year, BOTW (Breaking Open The Word) is incorporated after the First RITEs sometime in late Fall.

Classes for RCIC coincide with Faith Formation Sunday morning classes for children.

How Can One Volunteer to Serve in This Ministry?

Anyone is welcome to assist in this rewarding ministry. The RCIA Team consists of staff and trained volunteers who serve as catechists-presenters (monthly gathering for training, formation, prayer, and/or team preparation), hospitality volunteers (persons who sign-up to donate and bring food, drink, and or other items/materials for use during RCIA Sessions, hospitality-plus volunteers (approx. two hours per month in purchasing and stocking refreshments and/or other supplies) and RCIA prayer partners (providing prayerful support for RCIA Inquirers (Catechumens & Candidates) and Team members during the RCIA Process.
